The Challenge

When it was announced that Yardstick and ProctorU would merge to become Meazure Learning, the leadership team was more engaged in how the two companies would exist together while keeping the brand loyalty in place. There were converations around how to navigate the complex company merger than what the new company was to be in the market.

The name “Meazure Learning” came from a brainstorming session and was initially used as a placeholder. However in 2020, the gloabl pandemic forced a reapid increase in demand for secure online proctoring. The name Meazure Learning became more solidified.

The initial placeholder branding did little to try and keep any of the brand equity that both companies had built. The branding would not be able to scale.

Research

Compiling information was initially a little tricky. How many people keep branding documentation that’s almost 30 years old? Also since Yardstick was located in another country made the research phase troublesome. But ultimately I was able to gather enough to put together a timeline of the logos used by both companies. Both companies had years of equity that they didn’t want to lose.

After gaining as much insight into each company as I could, I started looking at the companies in the education and testing space. How does Meazure stand out next to them? Naturally, patterns arose. For both ProctorU and Yardstick competitors there were groupings of logos primarily in the blue space, but a few on the warmer end of the spectrum.
